Vacation Bible School (VBS)
"Campout with Jesus" was a huge success! An original theme taught the children that God created Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire. The four elements created with Memory Versus' each night, Bible stories, crafts, games, and a dinner for all to start them off. A great attendance all week culminating with a bond fire with S'Mores! "Passport to Peru - Discovering God's Good Gifts" - Gifts of Comfort, Patience, Peace, Love, and Joy. The children memorized key verses from the Bible each night to go along with the theme. But most of all meeting different children each night and how they live in Peru. A country very different from ours but learning that God's Love is everywhere even in the mountains of Peru. Learning the Bible lessons, eating food native to Peru, learning customs and music.
In a bustling Egyptian Marketplace visitors experienced 'Joseph's Journey from prison to palace' as children came each night to Bible School in the summer of 2016. The Marketplace was the 'place' to be as they became knowledgeable about an a Egyptian doctor, their own beauty/barbershop, Egyptian customs, crafts, and food. They met up with Joseph each night as his life unfolded suffered through prison, became a trusted advisor to the king as he interrupted dreams, became supervisor over the food supply, and eventually met up with his brothers who were jealous of him and sold him into slavery. We look forward each summer to supplying the community children an opportunity to learn about the Bible and be guided closer to Christ.
In 2015 Aldersgate hosted "Conquering Mount Everest" adventure at VBS from May 30 through June 4th. Children and adults enjoyed nightly challenges related to overcoming life's obstacles using God's power. The VBS was well attended by children from both Aldersgate as well as the community and beyond. The church is especially grateful to Karen Martin and Pastors Brad Bennett and Stephanie Bennett for planning and implementation of activities. This VBS was also the final at Aldersgate for pastors Brad and Stephanie Bennett as they depart for their new assignment in Fairmont at the end of June.
In 2014 Aldersgate hosted "Weird Animals" Where Jesus' Love is One-of-a-Kind June 16-20 6:30 to 8:30. Children learned that Jesus loves everyone no matter how 'weird' some people may think we are. The backing of the our Church family and their contributions help make our Bible School as huge success each year.
In 2013, Aldersgate hosted Kingdom Rock VBS from July 21st through 26th. The fun will start at 6:00pm each evening, wrapping up around 8:30pm. At Kingdom Rock VBS, kids will embark on an epic adventure that will teach them to stand strong for God. Here, God’s victorious power isn’t a fairy tale – it changes kids forever. Parents and friends are welcome to join us each evening at 8:00pm in the Royal Courtyard for our daily wrap-up.
In 2012, Aldersgate hosted Sky VBS from June 24th through 29th. At Sky VBS, approximately 70 children explored a boundless blue sky. Mark 10:27 came to life as kids will discovered that by trusting God, everything is possible. Parents and friends joined us each evening for our daily wrap-up.
2011's PandaMania was a great success! We had approximately 60 preschool- and elementary-age children come out to learn how God is WILD about them! The week wouldn't have been possible without all of the volunteer staff, donations, and supporters - so thank you all!
